- Objectives:

- Be able to draw the structure of nucleotide when given the structures of the nucleotide bases.
- Be able to describe the structural differences between DNA and RNA
- Be able to show how nuceotides are linked together by phosphodiester bonds to form nucleic acids.
- Be able to describe the base pairing between nucleotides.
- Be able to describe the process of DNA replication.
- Be able to describe the process of transcription, whereby a DNA template is used to produce a strand of RNA.
- Be able to describe he relationships between DNA, mRNA and protein sequences.
- Be able to describe the process of protein synthesis.
- Be able to describe the effects of the different types of DNA mutation on protein synthesis.
