Manipulating and positioning charts

Cutting or copying a chart

When you cut or copy a chart, the link to the spreadsheet data on which the chart is based is broken. Changes made to that data are no longer reflected in the chart. The pasted chart becomes an object, which you can modify as you would any object.

Tip: To modify individual objects in a pasted chart, ungroup the chart.

To place a chart in another document:
    1 Select the chart.
2 Choose Cut or Copy from the Edit menu.
3 Switch to the document in which you want to place the chart.
If you are placing the chart into a word-processing document, decide how you want the chart to appear:
If you want AppleWorks to place the chart "inline" with the text, click with the I-beam pointer where you want the chart.
If you want AppleWorks to "float" the chart so that it can be moved independently of the surrounding text, click the arrow in the Tools window so that there is no insertion point.
4 Choose Paste from the Edit menu.

Tip: You can also drag a chart to the Mac OS Finder desktop or to another document created by an application that supports dragging and dropping.

Moving or resizing a chart

You move or resize a chart in the same way that you move or resize any AppleWorks object.
