Grouping or ungrouping objects

You can combine separate objects into one by grouping them. Grouping preserves the spacing between objects and ensures that they all move together.

    To group objects:
1 Hold down the Shift key while you select each object you want to group.
2 Choose Group from the Arrange menu.

    To ungroup objects:
Select a grouped object and choose Ungroup from the Arrange menu.
Note: For most graphic objects, the menu command is Ungroup Picture. If you lose some of the picture when you ungroup it, you can restore it by immediately choosing Undo from the Edit menu.

If you don't see the Arrange menu:
If you see the Transform menu and not the Arrange menu, you are in a painting document or frame and therefore cannot group or ungroup items. In a painting, you use different methods for selecting, manipulating, and positioning objects. (Because there are significant differences between painting and drawing features, it is important to choose whether you need to paint or draw before you begin creating something.)
