In a word-processing document or text frame, you can use ready-made styles to quickly format paragraphs as bulleted lists, numbered lists, lettered lists, or checklists (with open checkboxes that you can click to add or remove a checkmark).
Note: For hierarchical lists, (indented at different levels) use outlines instead.
To create a list:
1 |
Press the Return key to start a new paragraph, or click in a paragraph with the I-beam pointer or select more than one paragraph. |
2 |
Choose Label Style from the Outline menu, then choose Bullet, Checkbox, Letter Caps (uppercase Arabic letters), Letter (lowercase Arabic letters), Numeric (Arabic numbers), Roman Caps (uppercase Roman numerals), or Roman (lowercase Roman numerals) from the submenu. |
|
Note: These label styles don't reflect any topic order or hierarchy (the other styles in the submenu do). |
When you press Return, AppleWorks formats the next paragraph as part of your list. When you create a numbered or lettered list, AppleWorks automatically numbers or letters successive paragraphs, as long as you keep the same topic label.
Tip: To create an unlabeled or unnumbered paragraph within a list, press Shift-Return.
To modify a list:
1 |
Select the paragraph or paragraphs you want to modify. |
2 |
Choose Paragraph from the Format menu. |
3 |
Make format changes: |
|
|
To change the format of the list style, choose a new option from the Label pop-up menu. |
|
To change the indentation, type a new value in the Left Indent box. |
|
|
You can click Apply to preview your changes without closing the dialog box. |
