About integrating different kinds of content

There are a number of ways to include different kinds of content within your document, depending on what you want to do.

Including text, spreadsheets, paintings, or tables (frames)

AppleWorks allows you to integrate different kinds of content by using frames, which are "mini-documents" that reside inside other documents. You can create frames that contain text, spreadsheets, paintings, or tables. For example, you can add a spreadsheet frame to a word-processing document, or a table frame to a drawing document.

Frames are also useful for structuring the layout of a document. For example, you could create linked text columns where text flows from one column to the other. Frames also make it easy to set off a block of text with special elements such as borders and backgrounds.

How frames work in a document:
When you select the frame, the menus change to the Drawing menus so that you can do things like use the Arrange commands to position the frame on a page.
When you enter a frame by double-clicking (or by clicking once if the frame is already selected), the menus and tools change to those that you need for that type of frame.
