Working with a Smart LiveMotion object

If you change the source image for a Smart LiveMotion object you've created, GoLive automatically updates every SWF-format copy on any page that is open in a Layout Editor. Since the SWF format is vector-based, resizing a Smart LiveMotion object does not require the target file to be updated. You can also double-click a Smart LiveMotion image in the document window to open the original source image in LiveMotion. (See Working with Smart Objects.)

You use the Smart Plug-in Inspector to set options for a Smart LiveMotion object. (See Setting up plug-ins and SWF plug-in options.)

Right-clicking (Windows) or Control-clicking (Mac OS) a Smart LiveMotion object opens a contextual menu of commands for modifying the Smart LiveMotion object, including changing the background color and assigning a link. (See Additional image options.)

Note: Some Smart LiveMotion object functionality, like working with variables and changing the background color, only works with LiveMotion 2 files.

To add a Smart LiveMotion object:

  1. Add a Smart LiveMotion object to your page. For more information about adding a Smart Object to a Web page, see Adding a Smart Object to the Layout Editor.
  2. LiveMotion launches, and saves the source file as a SWF file.

  3. If the LiveMotion source file has replacement tags (variables), the Variable Settings dialog box opens. Adjust any settings you wish, then click OK.
  4. Settings specified in this dialog box affect only the generated target file (the SWF-format copy); the LiveMotion source file is unaltered. For more information about working with variables, see Working with variables in a LiveMotion file.

  5. Do one of the following in the Matte Color dialog box:
    • Click the Set Matte Color option, double-click the Color Picker box to select a color in the Color Picker, and click OK.
    • Click Set to Background to use the background color of the HTML page as the matte color, then click OK.
    • Click OK to leave the matte color as is.
  6. Save the converted image to a folder within your site folder, such as a folder named "images". If the image file is not saved to a location inside the site folder, the link between the Smart Object and the target file will not be valid.
