Adding a Smart Illustrator objectSources files for Smart Illustrator objects can be in Illustrator AI or Illustrator SVG format. Target files created from an AI source file can be in bitmap (GIF, JPEG, PNG, or WBMP), SVG, SVGZ, and SWF formats. Target files created from an SVG source file can be GIF, JPEG, PNG, and WBMP formats. Slices and variables are only recognized in SVG files. For more information about working with a sliced Illustrator SVG file, see Working with a sliced Illustrator SVG image. Note: GoLive does not support multilayered Illustrator files. Layered Illustrator images are flattened during the optimization and conversion process. If you're optimizing from SVG format and the source Illustrator file has variables, GoLive can grab and manipulate these variables to modify the content and object visibility. This gives you a tool for creating different images generated from the same source file. For more information about working with variables, see Working with variables in an Illustrator SVG file. Note: Automatic updating does not occur if the resized image is optimized to SWF or SVG format since those formats are vector-based and scalable. You can also double-click a Smart Illustrator image in the Layout Editor to open the original source image in Adobe Illustrator. One exception is double-clicking an SVG object on Windows. The Smart (SVG) Illustrator object opens in the default browser. To add a Smart Illustrator object and save as Bitmap formats:
Note: Only AI files cause the Conversion Settings dialog box to appear, not SVG files. Note: For additional details on optimization views, see About the Save For Web dialog box. Note: You must save the target file somewhere inside your site folder or the link between the Smart Object and the target file will be invalid. To add a Smart Illustrator object as SVG, SVG Compressed, or SWF:
GoLive launches Illustrator. Illustrator then opens an optimization options dialog box appropriate to the format you chose in the Conversion Setting dialog box. For SVG files, it's important to select Embed for Images and not Link if the AI file contains a rasterized image. For more information on optimization settings for SVG and SWF formats, see Optimization options for SVG format or Optimization options for SWF format. For more information about setting up your SVG or SWF file using the Basic, More, and Attribs tabs of the Smart Plugin Inspector, see Adding media to a Web page. |
