Reshaping objects and curves

You can reshape freehand objects, regular and irregular polygons, Bezier shapes, and arcs by moving their anchor points and control handles.

Anchor points are squares or circles that show each point you clicked to draw an object.

Control handles are lines that intersect anchor points and give you greater control when you manipulate objects.

Tip: You can easily change square corners to rounded ones by choosing Corner Info from the Edit menu.

To reshape an object or curve:
1 Select an irregular polygon, Bezier shape, arc, or freehand shape.
2 Choose Reshape from the Arrange menu.
3 Drag an anchor point to reshape the object.
4 To use control handles and other reshaping options, try some of the following techniques:
To display control handles on a Bezier shape, click an anchor point.
To add a control handle to a polygon or freehand object, click to select an anchor point, release the mouse button, then press Option while you drag the anchor point.
To delete a control handle, hold down the Option key while you click the handle.
To add an anchor point, click the object's border.
To delete an anchor point, select the point and press the Delete key.
To move several anchor points at once, hold down the Shift key to select multiple points, then release the Shift key and drag one of the points.
To bend or twist a curve, or to curve a straight line, drag a control handle.
Tip: If you don't see a control handle where you expect one, try zooming in to 200 or 400 percent.
5 When you finish reshaping the object, choose Reshape from the Arrange menu again.

If you don't see the Arrange menu:
If you see the Transform menu and not the Arrange menu, you are in a painting document or frame and therefore cannot reshape items. In a painting, you use different methods for changing the appearance of images. (Because there are significant differences between painting and drawing features, it is important to choose whether you need to paint or draw before you begin creating something.)
