Locking or unlocking objects

To prevent an object from being moved, deleted, or modified, you can lock it. A locked object can still be selected, copied, duplicated, or grouped with other objects. When you copy or duplicate a locked object, the new object is not locked. When you group a locked object with other objects, the grouped object is locked.

To lock one or more objects:
Select the objects and choose Lock from the Arrange menu.

To unlock one or more objects:
Select the objects and choose Unlock from the Arrange menu.

Note: As with other locked objects, a locked frame can't be moved, deleted, or modified. However, you can change the contents of the frame, which may cause the frame to change size.

If you don't see the Arrange menu:
If you see the Transform menu and not the Arrange menu, you are in a painting document or frame and therefore cannot lock or unlock items. In a painting, you use different methods for selecting, manipulating, and positioning objects. (Because there are significant differences between painting and drawing features, it is important to choose whether you need to paint or draw before you begin creating something.)
