Creating or deleting layouts

Creating a new layout

    To create a layout:
1 Choose New Layout from the Layout menu or from the layout pop-up menu on the left side of the document window (except in Browse mode).
2 Type a name for the layout.
    3 Select a layout type:
Standard: Displays all fields in the order you created them, stacked vertically with each on its own line and the field name to the left of the field.
Duplicate: Creates a new layout exactly like the current layout.
Blank: Creates an empty layout with no fields (for building a custom layout).
Columnar report: Arranges selected fields in a format similar to a table, with field names as column heads and records as rows.
Labels: Arranges the selected fields in a format suitable for printing labels.
There are special considerations when creating a layout for labels.
    4 Click OK.
5 (For Columnar layouts only): From the Field List, select each field you want to include, then click Move. Fields appear on the layout in the order in which you move them.
Tip: You can also double-click a field name to move it.

You can now arrange the fields and field names on the layout or otherwise customize the layout.

Renaming a layout

    To rename a layout:
1 Choose Edit Layouts from the Layout menu or from the layout pop-up menu.
2 Select the layout you want to rename and click Modify.
3 Type a new name for the layout.

Deleting a layout

If a database has more than one layout, you can delete layouts you no longer need.

    To delete a layout:
1 Choose Edit Layouts from the Layout menu or from the layout pop-up menu.
2 Select the layout you want to delete.
    3 Click Delete.

Note: Deleting a layout does not delete any fields or data in the database.
