Inserting records from another database

You can insert records from another AppleWorks database, an earlier version of AppleWorks or ClarisWorks, or a document created by another database application that's in a format that AppleWorks can read.

You can insert data from any field type into any compatible field except calculation and summary fields. AppleWorks computes the contents of those fields according to the formulas in their field definitions.

To insert records from another database:
1 Open the AppleWorks database document that you want to insert records into.
2 Choose Browse from the Layout menu.
3 Choose Insert from the File menu.
4 If necessary, choose a file type from the File pop-up menu.
5 Select a document and click Insert.
6 If you're inserting from a format other than an AppleWorks database, match the fields in the document you're inserting from with the fields that will receive the data.
