Adjusting image size of non-Smart Objects
You can resize non-Smart Object images in GoLive; however, unless the image is in SVG or SWF format, it's best to use the Smart Object workflow to resize images for a variety of reasons: - If you place an oversized image on your page and then reduce its size, your page still references the unnecessarily large image file, resulting in inefficient use of bandwidth and reduced image quality.
- If you place a small image on your page and enlarge it, the image may look degraded.
When you change the size of an image, GoLive displays a resize warning icon on top of the image to warn you that the image may have an unnecessarily large file size and is not displayed at its optimum resolution. GoLive also has a resize button in the Image Inspector, which restores the image to its original proportions.
To adjust image size in GoLive: With the image selected, select the desired unit of measurement option in the Image Inspector, and enter new values for Height and Width.
To adjust the image size and constrain the proportions: - In the Image Inspector, choose Image from either the Width pop-up menu or the Height pop-up menu (but not from both).
- Choose Pixel from the pop-up menu for the remaining size attribute (Width or Height).
- Enter a value in the Pixel text box and press Enter (Windows or Mac OS) or Return (Mac OS).
Note: You should not use this method to routinely reduce image size. When you resize images, use Smart Objects for superior quality and to preserve the source image file in its original state. For information about resizing Smart Objects, see Working with Smart Objects.
