Setting up WebDAV servers
You should define both global and site-specific WebDAV server settings before attempting to use the GoLive WebDAV functionality. You use the Available Servers dialog box to define a list of servers (WebDAV or FTP) to be available within GoLive. (See Setting up FTP access.) Once a server is defined, you can assign it to a particular site by using the site settings. In the Site Settings dialog box, you simply click FTP & WebDAV Servers, then choose the desired server from the Server menu.
To add a WebDAV server to the Available Servers list: - Choose Edit > Servers.
- Click the New button
in the Available Servers dialog box. - Do all of the following, using values provided by the WebDAV or network server administrator:
- Type a name for the server in the Nickname text box. This is critical for preventing confusion as you add more servers to the available servers list.
- Type an address in the Server text box. The address must begin with "http://".
- Type a path name in the Directory text box. If your access privileges are limited to your personal folder, you may be able to leave the text box blank.
- Type a user ID in the User Name text box.
- Select the Save option and type a password in the Password text box.
Note: Whether a password is required or not depends on the WebDAV server access privileges assigned by the WebDAV administrator. - Click Done. This saves the values you entered for reuse from any site.
- Repeat steps 1 through 5 to add more WebDAV servers.
- When you are finished entering WebDAV servers, click OK.
Specifying a WebDAV server for a specific site: - With the site open, click the Site Settings button
in the tool bar. - In the Site Settings dialog box, click FTP & WebDAV Server, and do one of the following:
- Choose a server from the WebDAV Server menu.
- If a list of servers is not available or if you don't find the desired server in the WebDAV Server menu, choose Edit Server from the WebDAV Server menu and follow steps 2 through 5 in the previous procedure.
- Click OK.
