About WebDAV support

GoLive supports a server technology known as Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV). WebDAV is a standard (RFC 2518). This technology extends the HTTP protocol with extensions that let authors safely work on a Web site in a workgroup environment with features such as file locking so that documents will not be accidentally overwritten or updates lost. To use WebDAV, you must have connection to a server with WebDAV capability. That includes:

• Microsoft IIS 5 (included with Windows 2000)
• Apache (with mod_dav module installed)
• Novell NetWare 6.0

A Web team can work on a WebDAV production server in house and then use the GoLive FTP feature to upload the site to a public server without WebDAV capability.
