Before you can use a dialup modem to connect to a remote network, you may need to use the Remote Access control panel to set up a Remote Access configuration.
If you change Remote Access settings often:
Use the Remote Access control panel to create additional configurations and switch among them instead of repeatedly modifying the active configuration.
Protecting your remote access settings
You can assign a password to protect your Remote Access settings.
To set a password:

Open the Remote Access control panel, switch to Administration user mode, and specify the password.
To protect a setting:
•
Click the padlock button next to the setting in the Remote Access control panel.
