Switching user modes in networking control panels

When you use the AppleTalk, Internet, Modem, Remote Access, Infrared, or TCP/IP control panels to adjust your networking settings, you work in one of three modes:
Basic mode, the default, displays the minimum required settings.
Advanced mode lets you adjust settings that require more expertise to set correctly.
Administration mode lets you set a password to protect the settings in the configuration. This mode is useful for network administrators, but you can use it to prevent yourself or others who use your computer from inadvertently changing network settings.

    To change the user mode:
While working in any of the networking control panels, open the Edit menu and choose User Mode, then select the mode you want.
