Problems using Personal Web Sharing

If you can't start Personal Web Sharing:
You may need to adjust your TCP/IP settings. Make sure your IP address is correctly formatted. Consult your network administrator if you need an IP address, a domain name, or other network information.

If others can't connect to your server:
Make sure Personal Web Sharing is turned on in the Web Sharing control panel.
If your server is set to use file sharing privileges to control access (you've selected "Use File Sharing to control user access" in the Web Sharing control panel), make sure file sharing is turned on in the File Sharing control panel.
Open the File Sharing control panel for me.
If your server is set to use file sharing privileges, make sure the Web folder is shared.
If your Web folder is not currently shared and you're using file sharing to set access privileges to that folder, no one (including you) will have access to the Web folder until you turn on file sharing.
Make sure your Web folder is located no more than five levels below the root level of the hard disk.
Make sure your TCP/IP connection is set up correctly. Check with your network administrator if you need help.
Visitors may not be using the correct address for your Web folder. Make sure they have the correct domain name or IP address. You can send other users your complete address by using the Copy My Address command in the Edit menu of the Web Sharing control panel.
Your Web folder may be using a port number other than 80 (the default). You can check the port number in the Web Sharing control panel by choosing Preferences from the Edit menu and clicking the Options tab. (If the port number has been changed from 80, the new number appears at the end of the IP address.)
Make sure your Web folder has a unique assigned IP address. Do not use nonstandard IP addressing for your Web folder. Some IP addresses ("0.0.0.0" or "1.1.1.1," for example) are reserved for network hardware such as routers and gateways. If you are not sure how to assign an IP address to your Web folder, contact your network administrator.
