If programs are working slowly or you can't open an application program, edit a large document, or print, you may need to increase the available memory.
If you can't open a program or document:
Quit any other programs, then try again. |
Assign more memory to the program using the Get Info command in the File menu. |
If you want to open several programs at once or use a program that requires a lot of memory:
Turn on virtual memory in the Memory control panel, then restart your computer. |
If you have created a RAM disk, resize or remove the RAM disk. |
Tip: For more information, choose Show Balloons from the Help menu, and point to the item you want to learn more about. |
If you can't print a document:
Reduce the amount of memory used by the application you're printing from using the Get Info command in the File menu. |
If you're trying to print on a desktop printer, increase the amount of memory for the desktop printer icon using the Get Info command in the File menu. |
If there are system extensions turned on that you're not using:
Turn the extensions off in the Extensions Manager control panel, then restart the computer.
If you still need more memory:
Reduce the size of the disk cache in the Memory control panel, then restart your computer. |
Restart your computer. |
Purchase additional memory (RAM) and have it installed in your computer. |
