Using hard disk space as memory
Virtual memory is hard disk space your computer uses as if it were random-access memory (RAM). This disk space is not available for storing files. While virtual memory improves the performance of programs designed for a PowerPC-based computer, using it can make your computer run more slowly. To make more memory available:
