Spreadsheet keyboard shortcuts

    You can use these general, selection, and navigation shortcuts in spreadsheet documents or spreadsheet frames. Some actions have two or more shortcuts.

General spreadsheet keyboard commands

      Action or command   Keyboard shortcut    
    Calculate Now Shift--=

    Cancel an entry Esc

    Clear cell contents and format Clear

    Copy Format Shift--C

    Delete cell contents Delete, Del

    Delete Cells Shift--K

    Enter an absolute cell reference in a formula -Option while you click the cell

    Explode/collapse a pie slice Option while you click the series box in the chart legend

    Fill Down -D

    Fill Right -R

    Go To Cell -G

    Insert Cells Shift--I

    Make Chart -M

    Modify Chart (Chart Info) Double-click the chart

    Modify chart element Double-click the element

    Modify Frame (Frame Info) Press and double-click the frame

    Number Format Select the cell and press Shift--N, or double-click the cell

    Paste Format Shift--V

    Go to a function in the Insert Function dialog box Type the first few letters of a function

    Open a spreadsheet frame as its own document Option and double-click the selected frame

    Lock Cells -H

    Sort -J

    Unlock Cells Shift--H

Spreadsheet selection and navigation keyboard commands

      To accept current entry and   Keyboard shortcut    
    Move one cell down Return, Down Arrow

    Move one cell left Shift-Tab, Left Arrow

    Move one cell right Tab, Right Arrow

    Move one cell up Shift-Return, Up Arrow

    Move one character left in the entry bar Left Arrow

    Move one character right in the entry bar Right Arrow

    Move to the beginning of data in the entry bar Up Arrow

    Move to the end of data in the entry bar Down Arrow

    Move selected cells to another location Option- while you click in the other location

    Select all cells in spreadsheet Click the selection box (where row and column headings intersect)

    Select all cells with data Option-click the selection box

    Stay in the current cell Enter

    Note: The way the arrow keys work depends on settings in the Preferences dialog box. If you've set the arrow keys to move the insertion point, you must hold down Option while pressing an arrow key to move to another cell.
