Copying and pasting is a quick way to share a few styles among documents. If you want to share all or most of the styles in a document, export and import them instead.

To copy the characteristics of a substyle, copy and paste the substyle properties. (You cannot copy and paste individual substyles.)

Copying and pasting styles

To copy and paste styles between documents:

1	Open the documents between which you want to copy and paste styles.
2	If the Styles window is not open, choose Show Styles from the Format menu.
3	Make sure the document from which you want to copy a style is the active document.
4	In the Styles window, select the style you want to copy, then click Copy.
5	Click the document into which you want to copy the style.
6	In the Styles window, click Paste.

Copying and pasting properties

To copy and paste individual style properties between documents:

1	Open the documents between which you want to copy and paste style properties.
2	If the Styles window is not open, choose Show Styles from the Format menu.
3	Make sure the document from which you want to copy a style property is the active document.
4	In the Styles window, select the style whose properties you want to copy.
5	Click Edit.
6	Select the property or properties you want to copy. (You may need to click the triangles to the left of the style name and its attribute categories in order to see individual properties.)
	To select multiple properties, hold down the Shift key as you click each one.
7	Click Copy, then click Done.
8	Click the document into which you want to paste the copied properties.
9	In the Styles window, select the style into which you want to paste the copied properties.
10	Click Edit.
11	Select the properties you want to replace with the copied properties. (You may need to click the triangles to the left of the style name and its attribute categories in order to see individual properties.)
12	Click Paste.
