Adding items to the Clippings window

You can add items to a Clippings window panel and create new tabbed panels of clipping collections (including content on a Web page). You can also add existing folders of collections, such as a ClarisWorks 5 or AppleWorks 5 library.

Items you can use as clippings

You can use the following types of items to create or add to a clippings collection:
Objects or text in an AppleWorks document
Movies, images, and sounds (any media supported by QuickTime)
Items copied or moved from other Clippings panels
    Clip art
Aliases to remote items, including files on remote servers and Internet location files (To create an Internet location file, highlight the URL and drag it to the Mac OS Finder desktop.)
Images or HTML pages from a Web page
Existing folders of collections, such as an AppleWorks 5 library

Adding a clipping

To add a new clipping to a Clippings panel:
1 If Clippings is not open, choose Show Clippings from the File menu.
2 Click the tab of the panel to which you want to add the clipping.
3 Drag the item to the Clippings panel. (You can rename the item later.)

If you can't add a graphic created in another program:
Try importing the graphic into an AppleWorks document first, then drag it from the document to Clippings.

Adding a collection of clippings (adding tabs)

To add a collection of clippings to the Clippings window:
1 If Clippings is not open, choose Show Clippings from the File menu.
2 Click the plus (+) tab and enter a name to appear on the tab of the new collection. (You may need to click the right arrow until the plus tab is visible.)
Note: If you want to make a new collection of all the images on a Web page, choose Internet Based from the pop-up menu and enter the full http:// address of the Web page.
A clipping downloaded from a specified Web page displays a purple ribbon across the top-left corner of its thumbnail to indicate that the image is new or has changed since the last time you accessed that Web page. This ribbon doesn't appear if you use the clipping in a document.
3 Add items to your new Clippings panel.

Tip: If you're connected to the Internet, you can search thousands of Web-based clip art images on the AppleWorks Web site and save items you want to your Clippings window.

To add a folder of items to Clippings (such as a ClarisWorks 5 or AppleWorks 5 library folder):
In the Finder desktop, drag the folder to the Clippings folder (in the AppleWorks 6 folder). AppleWorks 5 libraries must remain at the main level of the Clippings folder.
