Deleting objects

You can permanently delete an object with the Delete key, or use Cut to place it on the Clipboard for pasting elsewhere.

    To delete an object:
Select the object and press the Delete key, or choose Clear from the Edit menu.

To delete all objects in a document:
Choose Select All from the Edit menu and press the Delete key, or choose Clear from the Edit menu.

To delete an object and place it on the Clipboard for pasting elsewhere:
Select the object and choose Cut from the Edit menu.

If you delete an object by mistake:
Choose Undo Clear from the Edit menu to restore it. (This technique works only on the last action you performed.)

    If you can't select something:
If you see the Transform menu and not the Arrange menu, you are in a painting document or frame and must use a different method for deleting items. (Because there are significant differences between painting and drawing features, it is important to choose whether to paint or draw before you begin creating something.)
