Formatting text in fields and layout text

To format text in a field or layout text:

1	If you're not already in Layout mode, choose Layout from the Layout menu.
2	Choose a layout from the Layout menu.
3	Select the field or field name you want to format.
4	Format the text characters and, for field names or text you've added, the paragraph.

Formatting numbers, dates, and times in fields

To format numbers, dates, and times in a field:

1	If you're not already in Layout mode, choose Layout from the Layout menu.
2	Choose a layout from the Layout menu.
3	Select the field you want to format and choose Field Info from the Edit menu.
	Tip: You can also double-click a field to edit it.
4	Select the date, time, or number formatting option you want.

Changing a field's appearance

You can change the pen attributes of field borders and the fill attributes of fields and field names. For some types of fields, you can also change other display characteristics.

To change the pen and fill attributes of a field or field name:

1	If you're not already in Layout mode, choose Layout from the Layout menu.
2	Choose a layout from the Layout menu.
3	Select the field or field name you want to change.
4	Use the formatting controls in the Tools window to change pen and fill attributes:
	• To change the attributes of a field border, select the Pen formatting button and choose from the color, pattern, and line weight pop-up palettes. • To change the fill attributes of a field or field name, select the Fill formatting button and choose from the color, pattern, wallpaper, and gradient pop-up palettes.

To change display characteristics for a multimedia, pop-up, radio button, or checkbox field:

1	If you're not already in Layout mode, choose Layout from the Layout menu.
2	Choose a layout from the Layout menu.
3	Select the field you want to format and choose Field Info from the Edit menu.
	Tip: You can also double-click a field to edit it.
4	Make the changes you want.
