Setting preferences

    AppleWorks has a variety of settings, called preferences, that determine how some features work. Preferences are set to (default to) the most common options.

    You can change preferences for a specific document, or change the default preferences so that AppleWorks always uses the settings you prefer.

    To set preferences:
    1 Choose Preferences from the Edit menu, then choose General from the submenu.
    2 Choose an area for which to set preferences from the Topic pop-up menu.

    Note: Some preferences apply only to the current document. If you want your settings to apply to all documents, click Make Default. If you have no documents open, click OK to save your settings as application defaults (Make Default is dimmed).
    You can restore the original AppleWorks preferences by clicking Reset Defaults.
