Creating pages based on templates

You can create page templates with predesigned page layouts and use them for creating new pages in the site. Regions in the templates can be marked as editable, while everything else is locked, so you control how content is added to each new page. Page templates remain linked to the pages--so when you modify the templates GoLive automatically updates the linked pages (without affecting any new content that has been added to the editable regions). (See Using page templates.)

Stationery is another kind of template you can use for creating new pages. Unlike page templates, stationery only affects new pages when you create them and does not remain linked to the pages afterward--so their page layouts are not automatically updated. (See Using stationery.)

If you're publishing multiple Web sites and want to control the overall structure, format, and page layouts for each site, you can set up all your page templates and other site assets in a blank site and save it as a site template. (See Using site templates.)
