Creating the site project file

To create a site, choose File > New Site. The GoLive site wizard guides you through the process of creating a site on your local computer or a remote workgroup server. You can create a blank, empty site--GoLive creates the home page for you (usually called index.html)--or you can create a site based on existing files (imported from another location or created in another application). You can also use one of the GoLive site templates as the basis for your new site. (See Creating a site.)

When you create a site, GoLive creates the site project file and three folders on your desktop: a site folder to hold the Web pages and media files (also referred to as the site's root folder), a data folder with subfolders to hold all of the reusable site designs and site asset files, and a settings folder to hold various kinds of transferable information about your site's settings in GoLive.
