Using movie tracks

A movie track lets you embed a digital video file (or any other file supported by QuickTime) that resides anywhere in the World Wide Web by referencing the file's URL. Movie track options let you control the way the embedded file displays and behaves within the root movie. A root movie is the "top-level" movie that contains all other tracks. If the movie track contains other movie tracks, the root movie is at the top level of the hierarchy of nested movies.

Note: The file you embed in a movie track does not become a part of the root movie when the movie is flattened. The embedded file must reside at the referenced URL in order for the root movie to display it.

You add a movie track to your movie by dragging a Movie Track icon from the QuickTime set QuickTime set button of the Objects palette into the track list area of the Timeline Editor. (See Adding tracks to movies.) After you add the movie track, enter the full URL for the embedded file in the Link text box in the URL tab of the Movie Track Inspector. You can also use the Point and Shoot button to specify any file in your site window that QuickTime can import, browse for a local video file, or choose a previously selected file from the URL menu to the right of the Link text box. You can then follow the instructions in this section to set additional options in the Movie Track Inspector.
