Setting movie properties and annotating a movie

The Movie Inspector lets you view technical information about a movie, such as the number of tracks it contains, its duration, the data rate available per second during playback, and its physical dimensions. You can also set basic properties and annotate a movie with information such as copyright information and the creation date.

To display the Movie Inspector:

With the Inspector open, click the Preview tab in the movie viewer window. You can set the following properties in the Basic tab:

    Autoplay

Sets the movie to start automatically when it is viewed in the QuickTime Player or GoLive. This option does not affect the movie's playback in a Web page by the QuickTime plug-in. If you select Autoplay and choose None from the Loop menu, the movie plays once.

    Loop menu

From the Loop menu, select how you want the movie to play back. Choose None to play the complete movie once and then stop. Choose Loop to play the complete movie from beginning to end repeatedly. Choose Palindrome to play the complete movie forward and then backward repeatedly.

    Controller menu

From the Controller menu, choose a playback controller suitable for your movie. The type of controller must be compatible with the movie content. For example, QuickTime doesn't use a QuickTime VR controller for a movie that doesn't contain any QTVR content.

    Movie Identifier

To name the movie for use as target of a wired action, select Movie Name and enter a name in the text box. To assign an ID, select ID and enter a unique ID number. When you specify the target movie of a wired action, such as Child Movie Name or Child Movie ID, use the movie name and ID you specified in this option. (See Wiring movie tracks with actions.)

To annotate a movie:

Click the Annotation tab in the Movie Inspector and fill in any or all of the text boxes.
