Setting how the computer gives you feedback
When you speak a command to the computer, it displays what you said in the feedback window in italic text. The computer's response to some commands is displayed in plain text, and if English or Mexican Text-to-Speech is installed on your computer, you'll also hear the response spoken aloud. To set options for how you get feedback, as well as the character that appears in the feedback window, use the Feedback section of the Speech control panel.
Playing a sound for recognized commands To have the computer play a sound when it recognizes a spoken command: Turning spoken feedback on and off By default, the computer speaks its responses to your commands. To stop the computer from speaking its responses: Setting how the feedback window looks To change the character in the feedback window: Different characters have different degrees of animation, but they all provide the same basic feedback. The character Lights takes up the least amount of screen space. Note: The character you choose for the feedback window is separate from the default voice selected in the Voice section of the Speech control panel. So the character Connie could speak feedback using the voice of Bruce. Related topic
