Installing and removing languages

You can install and remove the software for different languages using the Mac OS Installer, located on your system software CD. To add and remove languages, do a custom installation and select the Language Kits option.

Note: Using the Mac OS Installer to remove languages does not remove files used by two or more languages, or fonts that were not installed using the Installer.

If you want to install both Arabic and Persian language software:
You cannot have the software for Arabic and Persian languages installed at the same time. To use Persian, you must first remove the Arabic software (if Arabic is already installed). To install the Persian language software, see the Language Kits CD Extras Read Me in the Language Kits CD Extras folder, in the CD Extras folder on your system software CD.

If you have problems using applications that are not compatible with WorldScript:
Temporarily disable secondary scripts by holding down the Option key and Space bar while you restart your computer.

If file or folder names aren't displayed properly:
Open the Appearance control panel, click the Fonts tab, and choose a font that is appropriate for the language being used. For example, choose the Osaka font if the file or folder name is in Japanese.

If application menus and dialog box messages aren't displayed properly:
Drag the application to the Language Register program (in the Utilities folder) and indicate what language it should be using to display its menus and dialog boxes. To change the language for that application again, open the Language Register and choose a new language. You can also create multiple Language Registers for different applications and languages.
