Problems using USB

If a USB device doesn't work:
If a message on the screen indicates that you don't have the necessary software to operate the device, you may be able to connect to the Internet and automatically download the software necessary to use the device. You can also contact the manufacturer of the device to find out how to obtain and install the necessary software.
If the device has a power cord, make sure the cord is plugged into a working electrical outlet and the device is turned on.
Some USB devices, such as printers, need to warm up for a few minutes after you turn them on. For more information, see the documentation that came with the device.
Unplug the device from the USB port, wait a few seconds, then plug it back in.
Make sure the USB cable connectors are plugged in properly and that the cables aren't damaged or frayed.
If they are, replace them or contact the manufacturer of the device or cable.

If the USB device is connected to a hub (or a device acting as a hub):
If the hub has a power cord, make sure the cord is plugged into a working electrical outlet.
Make sure the hub's USB cable is properly connected to your computer.
Try plugging the device into a different port on the hub, or into a different hub.
Try plugging the device directly into the computer.
