A FireWire hub allows you to connect multiple FireWire devices to each other simultaneously and increase the distance between the devices. You can extend the number of available FireWire ports by plugging hubs together to form a large hierarchy of FireWire devices.

A FireWire hub is not always a stand-alone device. Some FireWire devices, such as printers and hard disk drives, may have built-in hubs. Some FireWire devices may also include multiple ports and act as FireWire hubs.
