Painting keyboard shortcuts

    You can use the following shortcuts in painting documents or painting frames. Some actions have two or more shortcuts.

      Action or command   Keyboard shortcut    
    Complete an open or closed polygon or a Bezier shape Enter, or double-click the last point

    Constrain movement to a vertical or horizontal direction Shift while you drag the selected image

    Constrain the direction of the line tool or pencil, or the rotation of the regular polygon tool Shift while you drag

    Constrain the oval tool to a circle, the rectangle tool to a square, the rounded rectangle tool to a rounded square, or the arc tool to a quarter-circle Shift while you drag

    Display an options dialog box for the rounded rectangle, arc, regular polygon, spray can, or paintbrush Double-click the tool

    Duplicate an image Select the image and press -D, or press Option while you drag the selected image

    Duplicate an image continuously Select the image, then press -Option while you drag the selected image

    Erase the entire document Double-click the eraser

    Move the selected image one pixel or gridpoint Arrow keys

    Open a paint frame as its own document Option while you double-click the frame

    Pick up the fill or pen color Position the eyedropper over the color and -click or Option-click

    Select all images without the background Double-click the lasso, or -double-click the selection rectangle

    Select the entire document Double-click the selection rectangle

    Select the eyedropper Tab

    Select the smallest possible area that contains the image while you drag the selection rectangle

    Turn Autogrid On/Off -Y

    Zoom from 100% to 800% view, or from any zoom view to 100% Double-click the pencil
