Database keyboard shortcuts

    You can use these general, selection, and navigation shortcuts in database documents. Some actions have two or more shortcuts.

General database keyboard commands

    Activate a field Tab, or click inside the field

    Display or change format for a date, time, or number field (in Layout mode only) Double-click the field

    Insert a tab in a text field Control-Tab

    Insert Current Date (in a date field) -(hyphen)

    Insert current record number (in a number field) -(hyphen)

    Insert Current Time (in a time field) -(hyphen)

    Layout Shift--L

    List Shift--I

    Lock (a field in Layout) -H

    Match Records -M

    New Record (in Browse and List modes) -R

    New Request (in Find mode) -R

    Paste (selected record, after the last record) -V

    Show All Records Shift--A

    Sort Records -J

    Unlock (a field in Layout) Shift--H

Database selection and navigation keyboard commands

    Go To Record -G

    Move to the first character in a field, or up a line in a long field Up Arrow, -Left Arrow

    Move to the last character in a field, or down a line in a long field Down Arrow, -Right Arrow

    Move to the next field (in Browse and Find modes) Tab

    Move to the previous field (in Browse and Find modes) Shift-Tab

    Move to the next record -Return or -Down Arrow

    Move to the previous record Shift--Return or -Up Arrow

    Select a record Click the record (outside a field)

    Select a range of consecutive records Click the first record and Shift-click the last record

    Select nonconsecutive records Press while you click the records
