Applying styles

    To apply a style:
1 If the Styles window is not open, choose Show Styles from the Format menu.
2 Select the text, paragraphs, cells, or objects you want to apply the style to:
For text in any document, to apply a basic style, select only the text you want to apply the style to. To apply paragraph or outline styles, click anywhere in the paragraph.
For spreadsheets, to apply a basic style, select one or more cells. To apply a spreadsheet style, use the arrow pointer to select the spreadsheet frame.
For frames and drawing objects, use the arrow pointer to select the object.
For presentations, use the arrow pointer to select objects.
Note: If you do not select anything, choosing a style sets the formatting for the next text you type or object you create.
3 Select a style in the Styles window.
    4 Click Apply.

Applying more than one style to the same item

Normally, applying another style to an already-styled item replaces the style. With basic and paragraph styles, you can use the Compound option to apply more than one style (for example, bold and italic) to the same item.

To apply more than one style to the same item:
Select the Allow Compound Styles checkbox.
