Moving and copying tables and table cells

Moving and copying a table frame

To move an entire floating table frame:
    1 Select the table.
2 Drag it to the new location in your document.

If you cannot move a table:
The table was probably placed inline with text. Select the table, choose Cut, select the arrow in the Tools window, and then paste without clicking in the document. After the table is pasted, you should be able to move it because it will no longer be inline.

To copy a floating or inline table frame:
    1 Select the table.
2 Choose Copy from the Edit menu.
3 Click where you want to paste the table.
4 Choose Paste from the Edit menu.

Moving and copying cells

You can move or copy one or more cells at a time.

Note: You can also add or delete cells without copying the cell contents.

    To move cells:
1 Select the cell(s) you want to move.
2 Drag the cell(s) to a new location in the table.

    To copy cells:
1 Select the cell(s) you want to copy.
2 Choose Copy from the Edit menu.
3 To copy content into a single cell, click where you want the data to appear, then choose Paste from the Edit menu.
If you are copying multiple cells and want the data to remain separated, select the same number of cells as you did in step 1, then choose Paste from the Edit menu.

Tip: To copy only cell contents, select the cells and hold down the Option key as you drag the copy to a new location in the table.
