Setting up a database to print records in columns

    You can make records print in columns (which differs from a columnar layout, where each field appears in a column).

    Across first Down first

    To make records print in columns:
    1 Choose Edit Layouts from the Layout menu or from the layout pop-up menu on the left side of the document window (except in Browse mode).
    2 Select the layout you want to arrange in columns.
    3 Click Modify.
    4 Specify the number of columns you want.
    5 Select "Across first" to fill the columns horizontally or "Down first" to fill the columns vertically.

    To see what the document will look like before printing:
    1 Choose Browse from the Layout menu.
    2 Choose Page View from the Window menu.
