Using spreadsheet numbers as chart labels

    AppleWorks uses the text in the left column and the top row of the selected spreadsheet cells for data series and division labels in the chart. If these cells contain numbers rather than text, AppleWorks plots the numbers as values in the chart. You can use these numbers for labels instead (for example, when the numbers are dates).

    To use numbers as labels:
    1 Select the chart, then choose Chart Options from the Edit menu.
    Tip: You can also double-click the chart.
    2 Click General.
    3 Indicate whether numbers should be used as labels by selecting "First row," "First column," or both.
