Conclusion and References:

Through the reading of the previous pages, it is my hope that you, the reader, have a greater understanding for the importance of cPLA2, the reaction it catalyzes, and the interesting way in which its domains interact with each other and with the cellular environment. It should be noted that there is still much to be learned about this enzyme. While studies are currently being done on cPLA2, more work needs to be done in the specifics of the active site, and the actual chemistry behind the catalyzed reaction. It should also be noted that this enzyme is part of a family of enzymes, the Phospholipase A2 family. This large family has members which range from acting in the digestion of food to the venom of poisonous snakes and also bee sting venom. It is truely a very interesting family, and further work will only make it more interesting and fascinating.

Hopefully, the goal of this mini-review was accomplished. Actually, the major goal of this page was two fold. The first part was to develop a web page which would give the reader a good understanding of a particular enzyme and its reaction. The second goal was for the authors to develop an interactive web page complete with a "Chime" molecule.
