About SWF formatThe Macromedia® Flash (SWF) file format is a vector-based graphics file format for the creation of scalable, compact graphics for the Web. Since the file format is vector-based, the artwork maintains its image quality at different resolutions and is ideal for the creation of animation frames. Although the SWF format saves graphics using vector data, it also uses bitmap data when appropriate. For more information, consult the Illustrator and LiveMotion user guides for documentation about how the SWF format treats various image types and visual effects created in each program. Note: Users must have the SWF plug-in installed to view SWF files. |
