Resizing Smart Objects within GoLive

You can manually resize a Smart Object within GoLive simply by selecting it and dragging one of its resizing handles. When you release the mouse button, GoLive launches the Save For Web functionality, then regenerates the target file using the last-applied optimization settings and does not change the original source file. This resizing also works for sliced files, such as sliced PSD images used for Web page layouts. For sliced images, the entire image is reoptimized along with the HTML being updated based on the new slice positions and slices.

Note: Since SWF and SVG formats are vector-based and scalable, their Smart Objects--Smart LiveMotion or Smart Illustrator--are not reoptimized when they are resized.

If you resize a Smart Object image and wish to return it to its original size, click the Auto-Resize to Original button  in the Basic tab of the Smart Image Inspector.

There is also the Exact Fit pop-up menu in the Smart Image Inspector for specifying how a Smart Object is scaled when the image is scaled out of proportion. This feature is especially useful in a page template that's being changed.
