Creating image maps


    GoLive lets you create clickable hot spots on top of your Smart or regular (non-Smart) image, edit them, and link them to Web pages or other resources. You can also associate the hot spots in a clickable image map with scripted actions.

To create a clickable image map:

  1. Select a Smart Object or regular (non-Smart) image on your Web page.
  2. In the Smart Image or Image Inspector, click the More tab and select the Use Map option.
  3. Note: By default, GoLive assigns a unique ID to the image map and enters the ID in the Name text box. You can replace this ID by typing a name for the image map in the Name text box on the More tab.

  4. To specify a hot spot, select one of the region tools (select region tool Select region tool , rectangle Rectangle tool, circle Circle tool, or polygon Polygon tool in the toolbar, click a point in the image, then draw the link area.
  5. In the Map Area Inspector, specify a file for the link destination of the selected hot spot.
  6. Use the Target text box to specify the target frame in the destination frame set (if any).
  7. Type additional information in the Title text box. Some browsers use this information to display tool tips or voice annotations.

To customize the appearance of the hot spot:

  1. Select the hot spot in the image.
  2. Use the following tools available in the toolbar:
    • Use the pointer tool to move or resize the hot spot by dragging.
    • Click the URL button to display the link destination URL in the hot spot. The URL appears in the GoLive Layout Editor for your convenience; it does not appear on the Web page.
    • Click the frame or color buttons to edit or turn border and color display on and off, respectively, while editing.
    • Click the color button to change the color used for highlighting.
    • If you are working with multiple overlapping hot spots, use the Bring Region to Front Bring Region to Front button and Send Region to Back buttons Send Region to Back button pin the toolbar to change the stacking order.

    Note: The Bring to Front and Send to Back buttons are also available in the Transform palette.

To add actions to image maps:

  1. Select a hot spot in an image map on your Web page.
  2. Choose Window > Actions.
  3. In the Actions palette, choose a mouse or key event, and click the New button New button .
  4. Choose the desired action from the Actions menu in the Actions palette.
