Troubleshooting AlterCast Problems

Configuring AlterCast to work with a site can be difficult because of the many steps involved. If your image does not appear as desired, check the following:

• The <servlet> and <servlet-mapping> elements are added to the web.xml file as described in web.xml.altercast.readme.
• The web.xml file, AlterCast support files, SVG or PSD file, and your Web page are all uploaded to the site.
• The server has been restarted after you uploaded everything.
• AlterCast is properly installed and licensed on your server.
• If a broken image appears in the browser, show it in its own browser window. In the URL, you should see the variable names and database values. If not, check the content sources on your page. If so, there is probably some problem with the image server.
• Check the Web server log and Web server command output window if they exist. Error messages are likely to appear there.
