Setting up a page

Before you add content to a page, you should set it up and save it. Then you can set up other page properties such as title and link text color.

To create and set up a page:

  1. Choose File > New Special > XHTML-Basic Page.
  2. To convert an existing page to XHTML-Basic, choose Markup > Convert to XHTML from the document window menu palette menu triangle, and then choose Doctype XHTML-Basic 1.0 from the document window menu.
  3. Note: When you create a new site, GoLive automatically creates the site's home page (usually called index.html). If you want to use that page you must first convert it to XHTML-Basic.

  4. To set the layout view to simulate the page and type size of a phone browser, move the pointer over the document window, and then from the context menu choose View > Browser Profile >Nokia XHTML Phone. To see the context menu, right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Mac OS).
  5. To specify a page title, choose Special > Page Properties, and then in the Page Inspector type a title for the page.
  6. Note: The page title is saved as a bookmark name on the phone when users bookmark a page.

  7. To set link colors or a page background, choose Special > Page Properties and set options in the Page Inspector. Remember that many users' phones won't display color.
  8. Tip iconThe most efficient way to develop an XHTML-Basic site is to set up a stationery page in your site and save it as a XHTML-Basic page with Nokia browser view selected. Then you can quickly create new pages with these characteristics by opening your stationery page in the site's Stationery folder. For more information on stationery, see Using stationery.
