Setting up Internet access
Before you can use GoLive FTP clients to connect to an FTP server, you may need to customize your network settings to access the Internet. For example, your Internet service provider (ISP) may require you to use a proxy server for security reasons or use passive mode to work with a firewall that forbids incoming connections.
To set up Internet access: - Choose Edit > Preferences.
- Click the Network icon
. - Select Network options as follows:
- (Mac OS only) If you want to use your computer's Internet control panel settings for GoLive Internet access, click the Import Now button, and then select Use Always.
- If you need to use an FTP proxy or HTTP proxy, select Use FTP Proxy or Use HTTP Proxy and provide a host name and port number. For information, ask your server administrator.
- If you experience time-out errors while uploading a site, select Keep Connections Alive.
- If resolving links (alias files or shortcuts) on the server takes an unacceptable amount of time, deselect Resolve Links.
- (Mac OS) If you use the system Keychain feature for storing passwords, select the Use System Keychain for Passwords option.
- Click OK.
Note: If you need to connect in passive mode, choose Edit > Servers, select a server, click the Advanced button, then select Use Passive Mode (PASV) and click OK. If you receive the message, "Can't connect to server. Perhaps the server is down, or your Adobe GoLive proxy settings are wrong," your proxy setting is probably wrong. Check your proxy setting by choosing Edit > Preferences, then clicking Network. Information on proxy settings is available in the support knowledge base at Adobe online.
