Problems opening Mac OS files
If the application that created the document can't be found:
The document may have been created with a program you don't have, or with a different version of the program.

Turn on automatic file translation in the File Exchange control panel so that your computer can find an application to open the file. If you still can't open files, you may want to purchase additional translation extensions that support the kind of conversion you need. |

Note: The QuickTime software that comes with the Mac OS includes translation extensions for most media files. |

Purchase and install the program you need to use the document, or find out if the creator of the document can convert it to a form that one of your programs can use. |
If the file name contains unexpected characters:
The Mac OS supports long file names, which may not be displayed properly by older applications. You can rename the file in the Finder.
