Finding applications to open files
When automatic file translation is turned on, you can open most documents on your computer even if you don't have the applications that created them. When you try to open such a document, a list appears showing which applications you can use to open the document. Your computer uses translation extensions to translate the document into a format the application can read. You set whether files are automatically translated in the File Translation section of the File Exchange control panel.
