To identify a specific color value, use DigitalColor Meter.
If necessary, adjust the windows on your screen so the DigitalColor Meter and the window containing the color you want are both visible.
To measure a color, the DigitalColor Meter must be the active application. If you clicked in another window, click in the DigitalColor Meter window again to make it active.
When you point at a color on your screen, you simultaneously position the DigitalColor Meter aperture (selection area) over the desired color.
To measure a color with DigitalColor Meter:
1 |
Adjust the aperture size, if necessary. |
|
The aperture size determines the size of the colored area you want to measure. For example, to determine the color of a small area, perhaps as small as a pixel, reduce the aperture size until you can accurately pick a single pixel of color without including other colors. |
2 |
Point to the color that you want to identify. |
|
Use the magnified view in DigitalColor Meter to help you position the pointer. The rectangular box below the numbers in DigitalColor Meter represents the average color of the area youre pointing to. |
3 |
Release the mouse button, then press Command-H on your keyboard. |
|
This holds a sample of the color you're pointing to so you can use the mouse for the next steps. |
4 |
Choose a color standard in the pop-up menu to display the values for the held color. |
