Chemical Reaction

The seventh reaction in the glycolytic pathway involves the transfer of the acytl-phosphate group of 1,3-Bisphosphoglycerate to ADP, producing ATP. This reaction is catalyzed by the enzyme 3-phosphoglycerate kinase. Because on ATP is generated from each molecule of triose phosphate, two ATP's are generated from each molecule of Glucose in this reaction. This reaction requires the presence of Mg2+(4).
